Reflection: Salvation
This
short story is a nice structured text which talks about a boy who doesn’t
receive Jesus in a religious revival. This story was written in first person
and takes place in a Christian Church. The boy, named Langston, was into a
religious revival where a group of kids would see Jesus and receive his
salvation. Everybody in the temple began preaching and shouting around them so
they can see Jesus. Once they see Jesus they go to the altar and they were
saved. Minutes later, Langston and another boy still waiting to see Jesus. The
other boy gets tired of waiting and decide to lie about seeing Jesus. Langston
couldn’t lie about this, he really wants to see Jesus, but he was getting so
ashamed of himself and decide to do the same thing.
He was so sad and
was crying all the night, when his aunt heard him she thought that the holy
ghost had come to his life. I think that sometimes we feel pressured because we
want to be liked by the other people to be and feel normal.
Maybe
that people were lying about who they are and how they feel. Probably many of
the other kids don’t see Jesus but they act as they did, just because it is
what has been taught to us to be normal, accepted and correct. In my opinion,
the religion is the best example of my ideology because many religious
followers usually say that they feel clean or pure, also, that they heard and
see their idols and that their religious rules are the correct ones. But, what
if they are wrong? If all of this is invented and created to satisfy some
necessities or sadness? These lies could hurt those who really want to
experiment and feel these kinds of experiences.
